Frozen yogurt in the winter sounds crazy, but go to Yogurt Planet and realize it’s the furthest thing from crazy.  This place off of 45th and Lamar is a little piece of heaven on earth for yogurt lovers.  My roommate and I went there tonight and it was so good!

The whole concept of this place is pretty cool, literally.  You can fill your bowl with any combination of yogurt flavors you like.  Then, head on over to the topping bar where you can put the finishing touches on your frozen treat with everything from strawberries, blueberries and pineapples to brownies, heath and cookie dough.  When you finish making your yogurt creation, go set your bowl on the scale and pay up (by the ounce.)  But, don’t worry, it’s worth every penny.

So go fill your bowl full of yummy yogurt and any topping your heart desires.  And, after you get over your brain freeze be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you think!

  • Holly,
I’ve been wanting to try frozen yogurt ever since pinkberry became all the rage in LA. It looks really healthy, do you know any of the health benefits of this over ice cream?

  • I LOVE this place. My friend Kate took me here a few weeks ago – the cheesecake flavor plus cheesecake pieces = SO GOOD. Great suggestion:)

  • Briana: So, I wasn’t sure about your question. I mean, I’ve always heard frozen yogurt is way better for you. I copied and pasted what I found from WikiAnswers. Hope this helps some!

“The difference between ice cream and frozen yogurt are minimal. Animal fat in yogurt and ice cream come from the same animal — the cow. It just depends upon how much is used in either product. They both contain similar sweeteners and calories depending upon how much the maker chooses to put in the product. They also contain calcium, protein and other naturally occurring nutrients.

The slight difference is that yogurt would have live cultures that ferments milk and gives yogurt its unique taste.”

Caitlin: I need to try those cheesecake pieces! That sounds delicious!!!!! Thanks for that one!

  • Not sure when this joint opened up, but I don’t recall it during my time at the 40 acres.

I do know that recently some of my aunts/cousins from Mexico visited my sister who still lives in the A-TX.

While they were there my other sister took them to this Yogurt Planet. When the whole lot got back to H-town, all they could talk about was this yogurt.
