#22 Visit Washington DC

View from Washington Monument

I had the opportunity to visit DC during the end of my senior year of high school and it was AMAZING!  There are so many interesting monuments, land marks, museums, buildings, etc to see and the best part is that they are all in relatively close walking distance.  I was only there for four days, but I covered a lot of ground very quickly.

World War II Monument

One of my favorite monuments was the World War II monument.  There’s a beautiful circular fountain pool surrounded by pillars with a state’s name on it.

Also a must see/do is to go inside the Washington monument.  Once you reach the top you have these incredible views of the city.  Also, inside the monument as you take the elevator down, are a couple other hidden treasures as well.  Then of course you have to see the Capitol, the Smithsonian museums, the Vietnam War memorial, the White House, the Lincoln Memorial, and if you have time I highly recommend going to the zoo.  It’s awesome!  There’s sooo much to see and do and the city is just overflowing with history.  After seeing the sights and learning all about the city, you will definitely come away with a sense of pride and patriotism for our great country.

I have not had the chance to get out there, but definitely plan on doing it! I think it’s something every American should do! How not?! It’s all about that American Patriotism!
